Looking to upgrade my Mother-in-Law from her iPhone 13 (might as well, since it's a $830 upgrade credit on my Go5G Plus plan). Initially thinking the "regular" 16 for her, but the 15 Pro is about the same cost ($70 more). Which is the better one to get? Both can do AI from what I gather. 15 Pro seems like a better phone aside from the newer processor in the 16 along with WiFi 7 (which won't matter to her).

Which is the better purchase? Thanks!

I'd get the iPhone 16 for the significantly better battery life. A18 will get 2-3 hours more according to tests. Bigger battery compared to iPhone 15 Pro due to more space from lack of telephoto lens. Cheaper display replacement cost as well if she ever needs it.

This is an important consideration, but the reason it has better battery life is because the 16 has less advanced features than the 15 Pro (pro motion screen, camera with ProRaw and beefier GPU).

Is that true? At least per the Apple website (when I look at the iPhone Compare link) it says the 15 Pro gets 23 hours and the 16 "regular" gets 22 hours.

I looked into this, as they're the same price here from third parties.

I decided on the 15 Pro, before then deciding not to bother at all and to keep my base 11 for another year. But from those two, the 15 Pro was a clear winner for me. Pro-motion, better lenses, always-on-display, probably better build materials.

ProMotion actually helps save battery life by reducing to 1Hz. The iPhone 16 gets better battery during browsing and video playback because of A18.

It seems to be a consistent theme in reviews that iPhone 16/Plus lasts longer than 15 Pro/Max.

Am I the only one that has a Lemom iPhone 15 pro mas? I sent one new one back. They sent me a refurbished. What!!? I sent it back. Finally got another new one. Or.....maybe not. I can't page back. I can't scroll without it zooming up or down 10 pages. It has all these weird little quirks. I have made an appointment with Apple Store here. I'm hoping they will just give me a new 16 pro max. What a headache this has been. I've NEVER has a problem with any iPhone I've had. This one, I want to throw against the all. I would get the 16 if mine in a new 15 pro max, I've just had nothing but problems.

15 Pro. I guarantee you your MIL will not notice Wi-Fi 7 and a compatible router is hundreds. The screen has thinner bezels, promotion, and she’ll have way better cameras. Besides the camera button on the 16 she isn’t really missing anything.

this is the answer. Just because it was last year’s model doesn’t mean it’s worse. It’s significantly better.
