Anyone buy from them ($244 for my 15" MBP) during the 1st year ?

I bought my base MBP 15" last year at Best Buy for $1529 (Great Deal).

Thinking of adding Applecare from BHPhoto as they are the cheapest.

Went on the site and it asks for your SN.

Is that a legit way to buy ?

Are the 2 years just instantly added on ?

TIA.

B&H is great, they offer a lot of products that nicely priced. I've gotten camera equipment and software from them in the past.

I bought my mid-2014 and applecare from them, worked great.

Buying applecare separately means you need to register the extended warranty (the box that you get will guide you to do so), if you had purchased applecare when you bought your computer, then it would have automatically been extended.

The extended warranty adds 2 years to your existing 1 year warranty so it doesn't help/hurt you when you register it, provided you're still within the existing 1 year warranty (read don't wait until that expires).

Most of the posters in MR aren't from NY, like I am. There's two types of businesses in The City - yes, I'm being funny here - those which work out of the back of a truck, and those that are cutting-edge legit. B&H is of the latter.

I ordered two AC packages from B&H last year. They arrived early - the next day - and I'm on the other side of the US now. I paid the same price you did, OP - the instructions are in the box that's shipped. I was good to go inside of 15 minutes of taking the shipment. No worries. B&H has an awesome B&M store and sales associates, be sure to visit there when you go to The City.

One more bit, if you're a "day or three" over, Apple can cut you some slack. The AC doesn't need to be received and entered before that 1-year anniversary, but ordered by that date. If they want or need additional documentation like receipts, they'll ask for it.
