What are people using to mount their iPhones (3G) on their bicycle handlebars?

I do a lot of road biking and want to mount the phone on the bars. All the holders I've seen only fit the old narrow handlebars (27mm). Most newer bars are 31.8mm and I haven't found a holder for my phone that that has a bar clamp that big.

As well, I don't feel comfortable with holders that only hold the phone on 3 sides (like the ones advertised with the sliding side wings on eBay). I would like the phone held on all 4 sides.

A company called 'thought out' (http://www.thoughtout.biz) makes decent looking mounts, but again they don't fit the new size handlebars. When I emailed them questioning them on this they got quite snotty and implied I didn't know what I was talking about.

The Ram mounts (eg: http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogRes...d/082065080045050055052045049085/Default.aspx) don't specify what size they go to and I have emailed their customer service but I seem to recall they don't go that big either.

Ideas, suggestions, links?

thanks

Good question. I had looked around as well without luck. This is something I would love to find!

I think you should explore the ram mounts some more. Tons of stuff out there for motorcycles that would work well. You should call aerostich. They carry various mounts and specialize in carrying quality. Easy to call them.

Pelican is coming out with a pretty cool case that i want to mount on my mountain bike./boat....

it's the i1015 but it's not out yet.... "end of Aug" is what they said when i called them last week... i think it's a good options because it's easy to get at with just a "clasp" to open and close..... waterproof also....

The Pelican is just a waterproof case. There is nothing about it that has anything to do with mounting on a bicycle handlebar.
