back in NYC!
My parents are in need of a new toilet and they are having me research the options. I'm really interested in bidets. I've never heard a single bad thing from someone who has one.

So I've been researching the different brands in the states and what they have to offer, but it's hard to say what's best without personal accounts and opinions.

Has anyone already gone through the process of finding the best, most cost efficient bidet before and could help me and my parents out?

The Brondell Swash bidets look the best, but they are kind of pricey.

Silly me. I thought that bidets and toilets were separate things. I guess you learn something new every day. The swash looks interesting.

a separate bidet isn't an option, the bathroom they are putting the new toilet in is rather small.

Ask any hispanic from New York, or someone from Europe.
Hey that's me. I'm hispanic, born in NYC and lived in Europe. ;)

BUt I've already admitted my bidet knowledge is out of date, must be a California thing.

You need advice regarding a machine that squirts water at the brown hole? Dude, it's a water squirting machine. It's probably all the same.

Just make sure the water pressure from the bidet is low. The last thing you want is a bruised sphincter.

tries to think up a joke about being gay and needing something more substantial if you want to bruise that sphincter.

;)

Duff-Man says...heheh, yes...the water pressure requirements are not quite the same as what the fire department requires for their hoses....oh yeah!

Much like yourself, I was gonna further my post by asking a specific gay member's name about sphincters, but decided that I had more class than to bring up such a nonsense comment when we should be focusing on the topic at hand: bidets and clean bums. :)

LOL.....not a good thought...but everyone gotta clean out the bum right.

This really surprises me! No one has any of the toilet seat bidets? Like the Brondell Swash or the Toto Washlet?

I'm a personal fan of TP, and find that bidets are not very useful at all (except as a fun distraction in European hotel rooms), however, I can't imagine they are all that different. However, this is the internet in 2006, I'm sure you can find a bidet forum somewhere out there!

I once saw a post on Craigslist about "total colorectal beauty", which involved soaking one's anus in lye for a while, among other things.

I can understand the desire for a clean bum but isn't this just a tad much?
*fighting back urge to insert bad sexual "oops" joke*

There are essentially two sorts of bidets:

-Toilet built-ins-
Cleans your bum after droppin' the bombs.

-Standalone-
Used (in Europe at least) to clean private parts but also for general hygiene. It's convenient for a little rinse-down without getting in the tub or the shower, i.e. to freshen up after working out and not taking a shower. No bumhole wiping/not wiping involved.

I think a lot of people are confused as to what is what, and what they're used for, as the term 'bidet' is used for both.

What if the this particular poo session didn't come out clean.......like a "ghostie".......and a wipe is definitely needed? I'd hope for a "wipe" option if some bits got stuck on hairs.

Also, my underpants would be all wet in the bum area after putting my pants back on, no? Surely that isn't comfortable.
