Guys - I have no idea what I type or accidentally press on keyboard that I keep getting the big cursor. Pressing Escape gets read of it but is there a way to disable the big cursor completely? Thanks

I only see 'Shake mouse pointer to locate' but not the big up arrow that appears randomly in different applications

If the pointer size is being enlarged through a keyboard shortcut and reversed with Escape, I suspect you have some 3rd party utility which does that – and likely has a preference for it within the app.

Unless there is a macOS internal shortcut shortcut set up for Shake to Locate ;)

I think these are your best answers.
At some point it's been turned on in Accessibility and it comes on either when you shake the mouse or 'scribble' on the trackpad, especially if you have it set up to be very sensitive. It doesn't have to be a huge movement and you can try it now to see if it works
So unless you sometimes need to use the shake function, go into Accessibility and turn it off.
