Hi there,
I've got a 2.66 MBP, not the one with the amazing battery, the one right before that.
Recently migrated to this computer from an iBook G4 and did the iWork 09 update from iWork 08. Since then, Pages has been giving me nonstop, bizarre problems:
1.) Application will not open any pages or word document with the cryptic error "The document "xyz.pages" could not be opened"
2.) Pages will not CREATE any type of document. Ok, this is not totally true... in the package contents, in the templates folder, a handful of templates can be dragged, dropped and successfully opened in pages. BUT from the template chooser, NOTHING will open. The little spinny, wheel (not rainbow wheel) just spins and spins and never will open anything.
Don't get me wrong, Pages doesn't CRASH, it just will hang there, unable to open or create a new, blank document. Otherwise, the menus all work, I can quit normally without having to force quit, everything seems to "work" except it doesn't.
I've tried trashing cache files associated with Pages, I've deleted com.apple.pages files, I've trashed ALL the iWork system files, I've uninstalled, ran AppZapper, reinstalled, called AppleCare, created new user accounts to try it in, taken it to the Genius Bar, etc etc...
The only solution the Genius Bar could come up with is an archive install, which I really, really don't want to do unless its absolutely necessary.
I'm wondering if there is any kind of software diagnostic tools out there that anyone knows of, or will an archive install really be the only way to go?
Thanks for any help!
best,
