Big problem

So I installed a update yesterday and then today I turned off my mac then when I turned on my mac I heard a very loud beep then it showed the apple symbol a little bar it would fill 1/10 then would restart black screen 1/10, black screen 1/10 ETC. Then I held down on the power button turned it off waited a few seconds then turned it on no beep and all is working. Note I was NOT plugged in during that.

Does anyone know what happened?

Sounds like the Thunderbolt update not working, if you have that Mac.

Yes I have the newest Macbook Pro 15" 2011, also when I turn it on after the apple logo and the swirly thing is done it flashes blue then goes to my Login screen.
