Big Sur on unsupported 13" mid 2012?

Startup Disk 500GB Macintosh SSD

According to this youtube vid, I can do this with my MacBook Pro if I upgrade to Catalina first:

Has anyone done this? And are you happy with the results. Many thanks for any info you can provide.

Runs perfectly fine with Open Source Legacy Patcher. Its slightly more complicated to install than the "point and shoot" method of the bigsurpatcher, but it really runs well.

OTAs appear to work fine. Not seeing any performance loss in either benchmarks or normal usage scenarios, in comparison to Catalina.

It's been my main machine for over a week now.
