Hi All,
I'm hoping you can help me with an issue my friend is having with her 13" 2017 MacBook Pro. I'm trying to help her remotely, but to be honest I'm struggling.

Yesterday she attempted to upgrade to Big Sur, she was previously running Mojave. It has gone wrong in quite a big way. She said it downloaded fine, but when it installed an error came up, and she tried restarting the Mac. She sent me a screen that shows the installer for macOS Sierra which seems very strange and the error is "The installer information on the recovery server is damaged". sierra_installer_error.png
The Mac then goes to the login screen. She sent me a video where I can see her enter her login details, the screen goes black with the white apple logo and a progress bar. After a few seconds she gets sent back to the login screen again. No matter how many times she tries to login the process above repeats.

She's tried doing Command-R on start-up and selected Reinstall MacOS, but after a while she just ends up at the Sierra Installer again with the error about installer information on the recovery server is damaged.

Can anyone provide me any suggestions on what she needs to do here? She assures me the Mac is fully backed up, so if it needs to be completely re-installed it can.

Many Thanks...
