Hi there - so I'm reading loads online about the Big Sur upgrade and people not having wifi connection. I'm usually fairly Tech-Savvy however this made me tear my hair out all day. after 3 hours on the phone to Apple Support - we fixed the issue.
My MacBook Pro is 3 months old and we ran wifi diagnostics, saying there was no issue and the computer had a strong wifi connectivity, however when launching App Store or Safari - no connection. FRUSTRATING!
In the end, we had to downgrade to Catalina, although without any internet connection - it was difficult, but doable.
we did it this way:
Shut down the Mac - after I turned the computer on I hit
SHIFT - CONTROL - COMAND - R
this downloads the original Mac OS your computer came with. (mine was Catalina)
in disc utility, the apple support told me to erase my MACINTOSH HD, then once I did that, close the window and you'll see the option to install Mac OS - set up as normal and it worked. I would recommend backing up everything as erasing your disc effectively erases everything off it.
hope this helps!
