Hi All.
I have a 2014 iMac running Catalina fully updated.
When Big Sur came out I figured I would try and install it on an external drive just to see what it is like before making a leap.
I've downloaded from System Update, and go to install on my Catalina backup. It does its black magic and then says it has to reboot. Ok. So I restarted, and when it booted up it came back to my main internal drive. I checked to make sure that my boot disk was my Catalina backup in System Preferences -> Startup Disk.
Restarted.
Came back to my internal drive. Ran the installer again, and when it restarted, I held down the option key to give me the ability to choose the drive. Never got the screen showing which drive I wanted and it booted into the internal Catalina drive.
I am frustrated and stumped.
Any ideas?
Regards
