By the sea.
iBook G4, 1.07Ghz, 27.82GB HD, OS X Tiger.

It has been discovered, through trying to up-grade to Tiger, that the HD is bad, so it needs to be replaced. As we've nearly 70% filled it we'd like to install a bigger one, so the question is: What is the biggest HD this will take? If I've not provided enough information please let me know what else you need to know.

Because I don't want to buy an HD that is not going to be recognised I'd be grateful if you could support any suggestions with web-links, and, therefore links or pointers to relevant web-sites will also be gratefully received.

Thank you for your time.

I'd get a 100GB HD. That should be perfect; it must work, Apple sells them in the iBooks.
Thanks, lilstewart & steelfist. I think even 80BG will be big enough for our needs - if we run out of space we'll transfer stuff to network storage. I was just worried that I'd get stuck with no bigger drive than was in their already.

Off to find the best price for a 2.5" lappy drive.

Thanks again.
