Well so I found out the hard way that my 2011 Mbp doesn't support the 830 ssd harddrive in the caddy config. I already have a 512 830 as my main drive and would like to add another mechanical drive as storage what would u suggest for the biggest and best mechanical drive for the caddy config.

Thank u in advance.

why not use a SATA II SSD instead, if SSD is what you were originally looking to install? I have my old OCZ Vertex 2 in the caddy on my Mid2012 MBP 13, with no issues.

Thinking of storage as opposed to speed. Is there a way to do fusion like. Keep the 512 SSD mixed with 1 tb drive.

Would this kill my battery? Are there any downsides of installing drive in caddy as well as the ssd on the main drive bay?
