...I can’t afford to order one yet!

Seems it’s only been in public’s existence for 24 hours and people are already crying about it, so I thought I’d make a thread to cry about it too!

Seriously though, this dropped the price on Apple’s refurbs so now you can get a full spec 15” with 8 cores, 32GB RAM, AND 4TB for only 4K!

I might forgo the 16 just to do that. BUT as a producer/composer, I might beed that 64GB RAM...

So now I have to decide:
Double the RAM and deal with 2TB SSD, or double the SSD and deal with 32GB RAM?

1st world issues...

Double the RAM is you think you need it. And buy an M.2 PCIe NVME SSD with external enclosure. Just be sure to get an enclosure that support the PCIe variants, some only support the old SATA variants. Might not get you the same as an internal drive plugged straight into the PCIe bus, but should be much faster than a regular external SATA SSD.

Doubling the ram seems like a no brainer. You can buy fast-ish external SSDs. You can't ever upgrade the ram.

I agree but I am often hospitalized and have to work and already max out my 2TB on my 15”. Lots of libraries. But yea, I may just go for 64.

What is the size of active projects you work on? I work with projects that take anywhere between a few hundred GB to several TB. I use rsync on the terminal to push non-active projects to a slow redundant archiving system, and then restore them, or parts of, whenever I need them.

There is a Chase credit card with 0% for the first year, no annual fee and FIVE HUNDRED BUCKS cash back if you spend 3k in the first three months.
Unfortunately this is only for businesses. Any tips on how to skirt this or a credit card that has a decent offer, let me know.

I would think the best deal would be cash and save yourself a bundle of money...If you need to finance a computer that you have done without..Well you really know it....
