I see Apple have announced the release of their latest 64-bit OS BigSur. Evidently that means Garageband 10 is no longer available for Mojave OR Catalina? But only BigSur. Mojave was the last version of macOS to run 32-bit apps. Apple's transition to 64-bit technology will create many issues for many musicians across the board running 32-bit plugin sample library's in all their DAWs.

I'm stickin' with Mojave.

Same here. I just looked at my apps, need to rebuy at least 3 apps (SPSS, Tripmode and 1password) because the older versions I use are not compatible with Big Sur..

Also, is there any reason to upgrade to Catalina? I remember it was a mess in the beginning and while mojave still receives security updates, why upgrade to catalina?

I'm stickin' with Mojave.

Think I'm doing a similar strategy. Mojave has been nice and solid on my 2017 machine, but the latest couple of updates seem to have some sort of issues, at least for some people. I'm at 10.14.6 and plan to hunker down with it for hopefully a couple more years on this machine.

By then the new Apple processor machines should be sorted out, and I can get one of those. Then will probably start with a clean install and transfer data as needed to the new OS.

I was forced to migrate to Catalina on my work MacBook Pro. Since last week I upgraded, a freeze once a day, the notification centre is not working often when using the trackpad.

On my personal MacBook Pro 2018, I had zero issues.

I’ll keep Mojave on my personal Mac forever. Same on my mini 2018.

I don’t see any benefits in Catalina or Big Sur.

I’m sticking with Mojave on my 15” MBP Mid-2015 mainly because it works and still has iTunes and Dashboard. I mean I rarely use Dashboard but there’s a certain nostalgia when I accidentally hit F4. Ha! The only 32-bit games I would miss are Doom 3 (have it for PC and PlayStation), Shadow Warrior Classic (also have it for PC), and this Gunship III - USS Constellation carrier-based game from the App Store (my father served on the USS Constellation so somewhat sentimental about the game).

Other than that, nothing really keeping me from Catalina or Big Sur, except that I’m not a fan of the Big Sur interface updates and everything works for now on Mojave.

I have the Henge Docks horizontal mechanic dock which has been great (but not compatible with newer MacBooks) and I like having MagSafe, ports, and no TouchBar so will try to live with my current MacBook for as long as it will do what I need. I’m not a developer or gamer and find that 2.8Ghz 16GB 1TB M370X+2GB is more than enough for me for now.
