Guys - where does the watch record bike workouts? Is it the fitness app? I took a 3 mile ride today but the only thing the fitness app shows is my steps. I also have turned off start working reminder turned off in the watch settings but from what I know the watch should still automatically detect me biking and record a workout

Thx

You need to have the auto start reminder turned on, and respond to it, to "automatically" record a cycling workout.

In watchOS 5 or later, when your Apple Watch senses that you’re working out, it taps you on the wrist and asks. Tap an option within the notification to record the workout, change the workout type, mute notifications for the day, or dismiss the notification. No matter when you tap, you’ll get all your workout credit from the time you started exercising.

^^this.

Not a fan of the auto options. Easier, for me, to just start it at the start.

End workout reminder is even worse. Keeps nagging when taking a rest on a hike.

Maybe in just grumpy tonight but in this day and age why can’t the watch just figure out what I’m doing. The science and technology have existed for over 5 years at this point

You can have Siri start the workout, too, although she may turn on the lights instead.

Totally agreed, tried the auto thing years ago for mountain biking and it was very inconsistent, starting/finishing manually is just simpler

But how could it possibly know you are cycling? You could be just sat in a car and it wouldn’t be any the wiser. It can work out when you are walking and running because of the arm movement but with cycling there is none of that. Now stop being a grumpy duck and get some sleep

But I’m with the others here, do not rely on auto start, it has never worked right and likely never will. Just do it manually.

I had a fitbit that used to try and do the automatic thing....when my daughter was a new born it consistently tracked me walking pushing her in a pushchair as a cycling workout!

😂😂 I also installed an app on my phone and buy a road bike for cycling daily but this excitement runs for only 1-2 weeks after that it was finished. But the road bike that I purchased is a very good bike I am riding a little bit every day.
