okay, i haven't read the article (yet) but i'd just like to make an important community service announcement:

Warning: bugs fly through open Windows.

:D

i just had to say it... i love that one. :D

From the article:
Bill Gates: "The vision is that people should have the ultimate in convenience. Being able to get the things they care about on the appropriate device."
His vision obviously does not lie with Windows.

The guy who interviewed him, Stephen Cole, sounds really skeptical of what Mr. Gates is saying.

acceber, I like it!!

Bill Gates obviously has no clue what the word "holistic" means either, it's a term used in medicine, which you look at the persons needs as a whole rather than the physical illness.

Well the word Holistic is also used as a management method in business, so whatever.

Maybe when Bill Gates has a vision of consumer electronics in the future, he closes his eyes and dreams of a Mac running the show, not Windows. :p That's the only way his words make sense to me.

Hmmm.. Bill Gates' vision appears to be heading towards the Apple vision.

And 1.4 million Media PCs sold. Not that many is it! In fact, in day for day sales, that means that Macs are outselling Media PCs. No wonder Bill Gates is wishing he'd have thought of Apple's digital hub idea.

Well then. There isn't too much to see here; Apple was right all along, all the Microsoft/Dell/Compaq/Etc are now needing to play catch up....

that man is a complete arse. all these "visions". my god, you'd have expected he'd have learned by now not to publicise them, unless he likes being embarrassed and laughed at by the mac community...

Bill- lacks the "so what"

..good to see intelligent journalism rather than fawning bland sound-bites.

I've probably personally spent cdn$90k on MS-related stuff (hw/sw) over last 17 years (never mind the corporate), and have yet to be satisfied, never mind delighted.

x-box, meant to be a solid gaming machine- totally unreliable, everything an extra ($), terrible support, games about 5 years back of best PC- i gave it away (pity the recipient).

Admire Bill's ruthless business acumen, but really wish he cared about his legacy on the technology world...guessing we've lost a decade or two already on progress...
