Just got my AT&T bill for $177 which seems excessive. Apparently they're charging me an extra $95 this month in "Mobile to Web" usage fees. The Msg/Min/KB used field says "4901".

I'm going to call them up of course, but figured I'd ask here first since surely someone else knows what this means? I thought the iPhone plan had unlimited data usage?

I rarely even use my phone, this past billing period I used a grand total of 85 minutes of talk time and sent 54 text messages.

do you have tethering activated?

Is your phone jailbroken, used for tethering, etc? Anything outside "the norm"?

Also have you used your phone for things like American Idol voting or that kind of nonsense?

Not jailbroke, no tethering, no Idol voting, etc.

All I do is make occasional calls, a few text message, and I have it setup to check my Gmail with the built-in Mail application. My usage pattern has been consistent for several months now but this is the first bill with these additional usage charges.

Did you just switch to the 3GS? If so it might just be a temporary problem with switching plans... I'd just call them (like you were planning on).
I wish. :) Nope still using my plain old 3G model.

Sounds like I need to give them a call...

I found the same thing on my bill. I looked up the detail at the bottom of my bill, and it's from international roaming (I visited Australia last month). Did you go out of the country?

Yeah could be international roaming. You need to turn of data roaming or you will get hit with a big bill even if you don't use your phone. It still syncs and does push etc.
