I'm doing a mock sale at Verizon to make sure everything will work later tonight when I preorder the iPhone 5. The billing address for my credit and debit card is a P.O. box, however Verizon requires billing and shipping info to be the same. How the heck am I supposed to order my phone?

FedEx doesn't ship to PO Boxes. Unless you have a card with your home address on there, sounds like you're SOL.

Damn, that sucks.
I think if you order on Apples site you can enter your billing address and ship it to a different location. They dont have to be the same.

From previous experiences with Apple, they also require both to be the same.

A lot of sellers require this for large cost item sales.

When I ordered my factory unlocked iphone online last November I had it shipped to my work with no probs.
Not sure if their rules changed or are different for preorders and regural orders.

We had issues with mail at our street address so I got my bank info changed to the P.O. box for security reasons. I understand FedEx won't ship to a P.O. box but yikes, why can't Verizon let me put a different billing address? Every other place I can think of that I've ordered from online gives me the option to put a separate address for billing. I'll try ordering it through Apple tonight - hopefully it'll work.

If that's the case (its very common for billing addresses to be PO Box's, so I'd be surprised), just order from Apple instead of Verizon. It shouldn't be an issue. At the worst, if your physical address is registered with your credit card company as a valid 'shipping address' they will generally allow you to use that as your billing address when making an online purchase... Pretty much for this reason. But if you haven't tried that before, an iPhone preorder probably isn't the time you really want to test the system.

My billing address is a PO Box as well. Just switch it to your home address for the sake of ordering and having the phone shipped to you then switch your billing address back to your PO Box after it ships.

By the way, if you order through Apple, you'll run into an error on their site because they look up your info through your provider. Apple doesn't ship to PO Boxes either so you'll have to make the change to your home address regardless. I previously ran into this problem when I order my iPhone directly through Apple.

I actually did change the billing address to my home address but my bank doesn't seem to do it instantly since I tried ordering a phone soon after and it still didn't work. My fault for not doing a mock sale earlier, I guess. :(

That's a tough one then.
Cause I know it takes some time for the changes to take effect with banks and credit card companies.
So what they do now is put a small authorization charge on your card but wont fully charge your card untill it actually ships out.

Guess what! The pre-order section of Verizon's website was different than the place where I went to pretend order a 4S. I was able to enter a different billing zip code - yay!

I used my credit card and entered in it's billing address (and shipping address) to match the card and not the account. I got my order confirmation but the billing address on the confirmation was to the accounts (not my CC's) while the shipping was to the new one. If I got the confirmation email am I definitely okay?
