When I told my Father I had bought a new DSLR he pulled out a monster tripod which at a guess is at least 25 years old. I was a little dubious because I have been toting a lightweight Marchwood for a few years now. The monster..a Bilora Stativ is fitted with a video head (fluid system?). However when I started to use it I was more than impressed by how solid and smooth operating it is. I can see how I will get some use out of this beast so long as I dont have to lug it too far. Has anyone come across one of these things before. It is made in Germany, they still make tripods but the current offerings look more like my Marchwood but heftier. Can anyone see any problems with using the video head for mounting a DSLR (apart fom the panning handle being about a foot long):(.
