So yeah, Wednesday is the (Sorta) last day of school (Nobody ever goes on the actual last day).

On Friday, my teacher was like: "Here's a 150 Question packet due the next time we see you: Wednesday" and the questions are super hard- Googling did nothing.

I finished most of it, just need help with a few. (I'm in 9th grade Biology, so if you say some super complex crap, my teacher(s) will know I googled/copied).

81. This type of Chemical Reaction is called:
82. Describe what happens to a polymer in our digestive system.
88. Describe how an enzyme works:

132. What happens to energy during photosynthesis? (Form it enters and then converted to)
133. What happens to energy during cellular respiration? (Form it enters and then released)
134. List 3 ways the photosynthesis is monitored.
136. Describe the flow of energy through a food chain.
137.What is symbiosis?
138.What is parasitism?
Example
139. What is commensalism?
Example
140. What is mutalism?
Example
141 Define succession.
Example

So yeah, if you can answer ANY of these questions, It'd be much appreciated.
Trust me, I wouldn't come here if I could find these answers via a simple google search, or in my notes- We never learned about these things.

2 big hints - check the keyword byu googling e.g.
symbiosis Wiki
it'll bring up wikipedia page for what you want usually.
That and using the define: yourwordhere to get quick info.definition.

80. Describe how a polymer is formed:

from monomers
81. This type of Chemical Reaction is called:
polymerisation

82. Describe what happens to a polymer in our digestive system.
broken down hydrolysed etc =- it

google
88. Describe how an enzyme works:
look at enzyme on wiki

126. List 4 ways that organisms are classified (Not Linnaeus' taxa system- that was the next question)

by genotype
by phenotype
etc

132. What happens to energy during photosynthesis? (Form it enters and then converted to)
wiki photosynthesis (it's converted from light to the energy in the food made from co2 and o2)
check wiki

133. What happens to energy during cellular respiration? (Form it enters and then released)
energy released from using the carboydrate, creates heat, co2 water annd usable enegry for movement etc

134. List 3 ways the photosynthesis is monitored.
? check stoma? levels of o2, co2 etc? could check levels of sugar for the leaf

136. Describe the flow of energy through a food chain.
137.What is symbiosis?
define:symbiosis
138.What is parasitism?
Example
139. What is commensalism?
Example
140. What is mutalism?
Example
141 Define succession.

i'll try to answer these the best i can off the top of my head at 1:30 am.

100. diploid cells for one thing have two pairs of chromosomes (can't think of the other two right now)

101. haploid cells have only one set of chromosomes.

137. symbiosis is where one organism uses something from another organism for their benefit.

138. parasitism is symbiosis which is beneficial to one but unhealthy for the other. ex. tick feeding on a dog's blood.

139. commensalism is symbiosis which is beneficial to one but doesn't benefit or harm the other. ex. spiders building their webs on plant life.

140. mutalism is symbiosis which is beneficial for both. ex. cows and some type of nat; algae and coral.

it's been a while, and it's late.

Aw man, the memories. Reminds me of freshman year of high school. Before the times of typing on define: on google, haha. I say for 50% of those questions you can type define: _____ on google and you'll get answers. Not sure if someone wrote that already.

141. succession is pretty much like city building in the wild, i.e., naturally establishing or changing the structure of the ecological community. primary is building from scratch (fresh lava flow), secondary is rebuilding a damaged structure (after a forest fire).

that's all i got for tonight. btw, all of the answers i got was based on searching wiki.

80. Describe how a polymer is formed:

by adding on more of the base chain.

81. This type of Chemical Reaction is called:
Addition?

82. Describe what happens to a polymer in our digestive system.
Broken down into smaller pieces by enzymes

88. Describe how an enzyme works:
Speeds up the reaction by lowering the activation energy.

97.How does DNA control cell activities:
by controlling how RNA and proteins are made

98. What molecule is made during Transcription? (RNA?)
mRNA

99. What molecule is made during Translation? (Protein?)
correct

100. Describe a Diploid Cell (3 characteristics):

101.Describe a Haploid Cell (3 characteristics:

122. Describe how resources affect (Should it be effect?) population growth:

125. List AND explain two types of evidence scientists use to support the theory of evolution

134. List 3 ways the photosynthesis is monitored.
136. Describe the flow of energy through a food chain.
137.What is symbiosis?
organisms that have a relationship and interact.

138.What is parasitism?
when two organisms are together and only one benefits. Ticks and dogs. Mosquitos and people. Any disease.
Example

139. What is commensalism?
when two organisms have a relationship, one benefits and the other is unaffected. Example is clownfish and sea anemone. Clownfish gets protection from others by the anemone, but anemone is unaffected.

140. What is mutalism?
When two organisms have a relationship and both benefit. Examples are sharks and feeder fish. Shark gets cleaned and fish get a meal.

141 Define succession.
Changes in a species over time after a disturbance (looked that one up)>

Just going off memory, so it may be wrong.

Also right when I hit submit I laughed at the possibility that this was an old thread that someone had dug up years ago.

I will have to remind myself to unearth this and see how many people fall for it.

I tried. Didn't understand crap.

She wants me to put it in something that she and I can understand...

Okay, need help with a couple more.

What happens to energy during photosynthesis (Form it enters and then converted to)

and What happens to energy during cellular respiration (Form it enters and then released)

List 3 ways photosynthesis can be monitored

Describe the flow of energy through a food chain: (Producers produce food, consumers eat the producer for energy, secondary consumers can either get the energy through the primary consumer or through the producer, and tertiary consumers get it from one of the consumers, or through producer?- wait no that's a Food Web, this would be just in order, and not "can get energy through this or this" right?)

(Describe what happens to a polymer in our digestive system- I have this already, but what is this chemical reaction called?)

Describe how resources affect population growth

Thank you all for your help!

Now I know why so many incoming college freshmen are unprepared...

It's not even that I don't do my work or don't pay attention in class. I probably have one of the highest grades in my class, it's just that my teacher didn't actually teach us this.

Need any more?

Yes actually.

Well, my county's poor, even though it's in the top 20 richest counties in the US.

So if you're a freshman, you took Biology right? So you should know these right (Unless your teacher also didn't teach you)...:D

I took honors chemistry this year. I took biology in 8th grade, and I can't remember a damn thing, sorry.
What state are you in?

Wait wha...

What about physics?

And Biology 2

Physics is not required in my school. I started in sixth grade when I took Honors Earth Science, then in seventh I took Honors Physical Science, and so on. I have my four science credits already. You can choose to substitute some.
EDIT: In my other post it said two years ago, that is wrong. It was actually three years ago. When starting Middle school, you could take all advanced classes.

Oh you son of a...

I just took Biology. In 7th grade I took Life Science (prequel to Biology), and in 8th I took Honors Physical Science. I still didn't get any high school credits except from Algebra 1.
