Bit Torrent running while lid is closed/sleep

So I'm not sure if this is a problem.

I usually set my download active on midnight, however I rarely kept lid opened when I goes to sleep. I'm not sure when, but I think it began since I upgraded to OSX 10.9. The Bit Torrent seems to be running while the lid is closed, every morning when I woke up and opened the lid. There will be notifications of finished download. Anyone experiencing the same thing? is this new feature from battery management?

Quit the torrent client before sleeping

Do you have power-nap enabled? Trying turning it off. (It's a new feature of Mavericks.)

Transmission has a setting to prevent sleep while downloading, try turning that off. If you're even using Transmission of course.
