I've been having this problem for quite some time now. When bittorrent runs during the day no problem at all, but if I let it run it during the night, it alomost alway crashes between 1 and 4am, making the cooling fan go crazy, waking me up, so I have to get up and turn it off.
Any ideas?
Aren't there maintenance scripts running at night? could that be the problem? any chance to turn em off and let em run during the day?

Thanks a lot

What client are you running?

I'd give Tomato Torrent a shot. It's simple and fast, but lets you change enough options to keep beginners and intermediate users happy. Automatic resuming... Very small download windows... It's definitely my fav, give it a try. ;)

Thanks, I tried that, but can't find an option to change the ports it uses, which is essential for me. Other than that I really liked it!!

edit: also, it's based on the official bittorrent client, so I'm not sure if it would solve the problem..
