Okay, so I've seen a lot of threads around this forum describing issues in which the Macbook won't read DVDs:
"Recently my macbook has been not reading discs. Now, when I put the disc in, it makes the normal weird loud sounds that the older Macbook's make when you put a disc in them, but after about 4 minutes, it just spits it out.... I didn't know if there was any trouble shooting I could go through inside the machines utilities or not..."
My Macbook has been doing the same thing, but only with certain specific DVDs. I recently bought the first four seasons of 30 Rock on DVD, and most of it plays flawlessly, but Season 3, Disc 2, for some reason, gets the drive whirring and then gets spat back out. (This has occasionally happened before with at least three other discs -- two of them had errors and problems when tried on another system anyway, but one was completely fine.)
I know the disc works because I fed it into a standard DVD player and encountered no problem. And here's the weird thing... just playing around, I actually managed to get the disc to work on my computer by opening DVD Player before inserting it and then holding my laptop upside down while it started reading the disc. Unfortunately, it seems that only worked once.
Does anybody have any idea what the problem is with my computer and these couple specific discs?
