I'm hoping someone can provide a solution to an odd issue.

I did a clean install of 10.13.2. Now that 10.13.3 is out (and has been updated on my MacBook) naturally I want to update my MacPro. There is no update in the App Store. Also, downloading the dmg installer from apple does not work either. It seems to be 'stuck' on 10.13.2.

From the apple support thread on this topic it seems that the Mac downloaded and installed the iMac Pro version of the OS ,(17C2120), although I'm not sure about this or if it's even possible.

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8254113

These are the machine and OS specs:
Mac Pro 6,1
3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5
macOS 10.13.2 (17C2120)

Weirdly even when I download the correct dmg to do the update it says it can't be installed and points to beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/apfsfusion

The App Store doesn't even show the .3 update as available for this machine. No-one seems to have a solution on Apple so I was wondering if someone here would have a fix..

Help!

Thanks..

This is definitely a build of the operating system that's for the iMac Pro. Try downloading the full High Sierra installer from the App Store and isntalling that- this will be version 10.13.3. It's also possible that you may need to reformat your computer and start over as something clearly went wrong.

Running the 10.13.3 installer from the App Store doesn't work, it does the whole install process but then once the computer boots up it's still macOS 10.13.2 (17C2120).

What a pain.

Looks like this is the only option unfortunately which means a day of reinstalling.

What I want to know is how did Apple clearly download/install via the App Store an operating system for the iMac Pro on to a Mac Pro? Crazy.

I have had the same problem. On another forum they suggested booting from safe mode and launching from the installer. This worked for some but not for me. cMP 2010 is my machine.

Hi Krell,
Since you're running the iMac Pro OS, you're going to need to update to 10.13.4 since its where the OS converges for regular Macs and the iMac Pro. Enroll your Mac into Developer Seeding and check for updates.
sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Seeding.framework/Resources/seedutil enroll DeveloperSeed

I guarantee that this will work.

Thanks for the replies, it's appreciated!

@oatman13 I've run the sudo command in terminal and now in the App Store updates I'm seeing a 10.13.4 beta. I assume that when the full .4 (non-beta) becomes available I will see this now. Cheers!

Oh, if you’re cool on waiting for 10.13.4 to go GM, you should go back to the regular catalog and just wait. Personally I think it’s better to be on the beta than to be on a vulnerable version of macOS.

sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Seeding.framework/Resources/seedutil unenroll

This sudo command to enroll in the Development seeds doesn't work for me. Keeps saying up to date. Weird.

I've been trying to update my iMac since the supplemental 10.13.3 update came out and have been unable to. tried App Store and downloading from apple. Nothing seems to work. Its a 4K 21.5" 2017 iMac.

Any chance you have an image of your system before you tried to go to 10.13.3? It's a hell of a lot easier to just restore an image and give it another shot. If you don't, consider making this a practice. Carbon Copy Cloner 5

So I have solved the problem for myself. My boot drive is a RAID disk of 4 SSDs. I was not able to install HS on this so what I did was clone to a HDD and then clone back. I had to do the same to update. Hopefully that helps.

I don't understand what this means. How do I find out what my boot drive is and how to I follow what you did? I am having the same problem but I'm stuck at 10.13.

If you have more than one hard drive go to disk utility and see which one has the macOS logo beside it. That is your boot drive.
