I just bought a new i5 MBP to replace my aging first-gen Intel MBP.
I'm using Migration Assistant over ethernet.
It goes through and transfers no problem. However, on the new computer is has an error message at the very end indicating two things:
1. Not all of my documents could be transferred
2. It could not create my user name
When it boots up, I can login. But my desktop background is not there. The dock is misconfigured. And, not all of my desktop icons are there. Mail is not configured either so obviously it only "kind of" migrated.
At this point, I'm very frustrated. I tried repairing my source harddisk (no errors) and even did an erase-and-install on the new computer to start over from scratch.
I don't know what else to do except SuperDuper clone the drive. However, I'm a bit wary of doing that since my Early 2006 MBP has never had a fresh OS install. It went from Tiger -> Leopard -> Snow Leopard.
