Should i
get a stock Blackbook - no apple care
gat a stock white book - apple care
get a whitebook - 2gb ram

these are my options - i can upgrade the applecare later in the year

i need it only for school work, multimeadia, light recreational video editing and internet

thanks all, will buy as soon as leopard comes out/and or updates

Definitely get a white MacBook with either 2 GB RAM or AppleCare.

If you bought the 2 GB of RAM, would you be able to buy AppleCare within 1 year? ...If so, do that.

I would definetly suggest getting the white MacBook and 2GB of RAM, you can always get the AppleCare later, and you will see an imediate benefit from 2GB of RAM.

I have a blackbook. It's nice. I think the black case looks a bit more pro than the white. 2 gigs of ram is nice, but it's an easy upgrade later if you don't want to pay apple's premium for rams.

what do people prefer black or white??
i like the matte black, but the white is original apple - both are nice

black appeared in apple laptops long before white ever did. if you really want original apple, black is the way to go. i prefer white myself. if you're solely concerned over color, choose the color you like not what everybody else likes.

as for my vote, i say go with white with upgraded ram. unless you really really really hate scratches. if that's the case, definitely go with the black.

i like teh white one better...why? cuz i don t have to pay an extra 150 CAN for a different color,, just doens t make sense to me...
