Hey guys,

I have been talking about this for a while here on the forums about the development of a black matte vinyl skin for owners of Macbook Air 13", Macbook Air 11.6" and HR AG 15" MBP ...to go around their bezels for the original macbook unibody look. I just wanted to show you that this solution is out there. (Disclaimer, I am not affiliated with the seller, other than the initial design to fit a need for this customer base..no profit made by me here.)

Here are pictures

After:

I just wanted to gauge the interest on this item..to see if it would be worth it to have these mass produced. Who would be interested? And at what price? This goes for macbook air owners as well.

A full review with more pictures (and place to purchase) will be offered on gadgetmac.com shortly.

Edit and Update:
A lot of people don't like the cutout on the bottom. I have talked to the maker of these, and he said he can make them without. It appears as if the maker is pretty open to your suggestions and ideas. So bring em forth!

As I mentioned in the Air section, I am very interested in one of these for the 11" Air. I don't really care for the cutout around the words on the bottom of the screen, but it wouldn't be a complete deal breaker for me. I own both an Air and Pro, and plan on picking up the new MBP when it comes out, hopefully with a Matte screen option.

do they make those for 17"? if so, my next mbp will be AG and ill just get that skin...

also the guy who makes these should, instead of making a little cut out for the mbp logo just overwrite the logo with a white mbp logo... it would look more like the skin is actually part of the screen.

I don't think that can be done how he is doing it. The way he is producing it, it is just like those vinyl stickers you see people put on their computers.

Is the material good enough to run through a printer? Figured you could just print "MacBook Pro" on there instead of having to cut every single one.

I like the silver bezel it looks more professional and less like a toy but I know many prefer the black.
Also If I would do it I wouldn't cut out the MacBook Pro logo. That doesn't look good and except some die hard Apple evangelists nobody needs to see such a logo at all. But I prefer a T-Shirt without any logo over one that has some brand logo on it.

It does look okay but I think it is important to make it easy to fit it perfectly. If that is not 100% perfectly attached it probably looks horrible. I guess some hard but thin plastic fram with a side that holds but not too tightly is maybe a better material. Films are really easy to be some how misangled and that just hurts your eyes much more in this case than with some less than perfect fit of all these wrapsol products and stuff.

I believe that is how you infringe on a trademark....

I agree with NT1440.

To have the trademark "MacBook Pro" printed on the bezel skin, I believe the person producing this bezel will have to first send Apple an "official" letter to seek permission for doing so because this bezel is to be produced (in mass quantities I assume) & sold for profit. Furthermore, if Apple grants permission, I would think that as part of the agreement, the producer of these bezels will probably have to pay some sort of loyalty/licensing fee or something & in the end, the price will surely go up quite a bit. :(

idk, I think it looks a bit silly seeing the gray background through teh two different holes :\
