If you have the icon locally then you can drag and drop the image onto the icon in the get info window.

Stupid question..some icons work, however when i tired other this appears why? and what do i need to do?

If that custom icon you downloaded is in icns format just right click on your Firefox application and show package contents. From there, head to resources and rename your custom .icns and replace the default one.

That happens occasionally, and no one knows why. To fix it, get "img2icns." Works everytime.

the second one.but when i save it and copy it,it wont allow me to paste it as the new firefox icon.could it be the wrong file type or something?

Download img2icns and then drag the icon file into there. Choose the icns format and then save the file to the desktop. Once its in the desktop then right click on it and click get more info it and then there should be a little version of it in the upper left corner. Click on that and then push cmd+c. Then go into applications and right click on the firefox app and click get info. Select its icon in the upper left corner and then paste the icon you copied with cmd+v.
