Best Buy has discounted all fifth-generation 9.7-inch iPad models with Wi-Fi + Cellular by $200 on a two-year contract with Verizon.

This limited time Black Friday deal drops the price of Apple's budget tablet to an all-time low of $259 for 32GB of storage or $359 for 128GB of storage, compared to regular prices of $459 and $559 respectively, in the United States.

The deal is available for select Gold and Space Gray models on Best Buy's website, with the deal for other models available at Best Buy stores only.

- 9.7-inch iPad/32GB/Space Gray -- now $259, regular $459
- 9.7-inch iPad/128GB/Space Gray -- now $359, regular $559
- 9.7-inch iPad/128GB/Gold -- now $359, regular $559

Apple's fifth-generation iPad is its latest 9.7-inch tablet, released in March 2017 as a lower cost alternative to the iPad Pro.

The tablet, simply named iPad, is similar in many ways to the iPad Air 2, but it has a faster A9 chip, a brighter Retina display, and it is slightly thicker and heavier. It also lacks a fully laminated display and anti-reflective coating.

Other tech specs include an 8-megapixel rear-facing iSight camera, 1.2-megapixel front-facing FaceTime camera, two speakers, Lightning connector, 3.5mm headphone jack, Touch ID with Apple Pay, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and Bluetooth 4.2.

Given its price point, the tablet lacks most iPad Pro features, including a True Tone display, Smart Connector, Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard support, 4K video recording, LTE Advanced, and four-speaker audio.

I bought a 32GB 2017 LTE iPad for $99 back when I bought my iPhone X through AT&T. Of course, I had to sign a two year contact for the iPad, but $99 for an LTE model was not bad of a deal.

Would would buy an iPad right now? Next years Models should follow iPhone X.

Well, at least the bezel size should be reduced further. This years Pro was already a step, into the right direction. You also need to consider a tablet still needs some bezel to actually hold it in your hands without interacting with the display by accident. Speaking about the iPhone X design, I still struggle with that notch design like most people, but iPads should provide some more space to at least reduce it significantly.

At the current $250 sale price, yes.
Unless these deals are only for a limited time, one probably would better off seeing what the new crop of iPads will be like, and then making a better informed decision from there

I could see bezel-less tablets being a thing... when you're holding them, they put in "fake bezels" just for that. If you're mounting it, or putting it on a stand, then you can remove the bezels for full screen display.

That’s quite a good point, I never thought about this option. But in reality that means you would again be facing a bezel nearly every time you use it. At least for people like me who don‘t own a stand at all.

I don't understand. $359. That's it? No extra $$ to Verizon? I don't see anything beyond "2 year contract" at the BB site. Then under Buying Options it still lists $559 with a 2-year contract. I've never had a cell phone and these kinds of games are the reason why.

I do have a Verizon iPad Air that I pay $21/1GB/mo when I want it. I suspect that is still the better deal (at about 4 or 5 months per year of usage)?

Anytime I see something with "on contract" these days, I tune it out. Not doing the contracts will cable providers or cel phone companies anymore. Contracts suck.

Got my wife a $249 iPad to replace her aging iPad air from 2013. It should be amazing for her needs, typically Facebook, cookbooks, Plex, Netflix, Spotify, etc... she’s not a geek, so iPad Pro features are lost on her.

I auctioned off her air for $140 on eBay. $110 for a newer iPad model that’s 4 years newer, how can I go wrong?

I bought the iPad 12.9 2nd Gen instead of 3rd Gen 2018 because:

1- Price increase like iPhone X
2- Face ID 1st Gen (prefer Touch ID until Apple improves Face ID)
3- Notch

Perhaps others do not want to spend a lot because they are wise to use their hard earned cash on something important?

IMO there’s not much chance future iPads will also have a notch, that’d be weird. It makes sense (mostly) on the iPhone to use the space, but it’s be totally needless fragmentation for no reason on the iPad, which can get away with just having a massively reduced bezel, but needs to have at least a little for usability’s sake. It’d be much more of an annoyance on an iPad too, which are more often in landscape orientation.

Yes. It’s $99/32gb iPad 2017 A9 LTE with att or $199/128gb. iPad 2017 A9 LTE with att.

Good deal.

However I got WiFi iPad 2017 A9 already.

So att rejected my offer to have them take similar discount off their iPad Pro A10X LTE models ($779 LTE/64gb). I wanted it for $350 off with 2 year contract. Which is the same they were offering for the A9 iPad. So I Wanted it for $429 lte iPad Pro.

I pay $20/month for lte iPad Air 2 I paid full price. And will continue to see any deals for iPad lte subsidized.

Hoping these 2017 iPad models are a good bargain. Convinced my mom to finally buy one, talked her out of getting a 9.6” tab e. Thing was dated on specs 2 years ago when it came out.

Laminated displays won’t mean much to her, she still uses an iPhone 5 without data lol
