I'm looking at the low-end iMac and I would like some opinions on a Black Friday new one (assuming the usual 10% discount) vs the refurb (at 15% off). The one advantage of the new one is that it can come with a wired KB, which I would prefer. So thoughts/opinions/rants?

10%? It was 8% ($101 for low end model) last year.

If cost is the primary concern then you're better off going with MacMall, MacConnection, or Amazon. The Black Friday discounts will be the same or better, and you may not have to pay sales tax, depending where you live.

Anyone know of there is a black Friday discount on top of the refurb price in the refurb store come this magical day?

Also, what is the typical iMac discount/deal through MacMall et al.

Thanks.

Most of the resellers can't discount too much unless they are willing to have it be a loss leader because Apple doesn't give them much of a discount. With MacMall, the best bet may be their closeouts. The have decent deals on the previous gen MBPs and MBAs right now. I don't think the Apple Black Friday deals apply to the refurb store. I remember checked it out last year, and didn't see discounts.

As for the iMac, I would probably go with the refurb. If you can wait a week, I would recommend that and comparing prices. The refurb store usually has a good selection of iMacs, so I think they will still be there if you decide to go that route.
