I just went down to an AT&T store and asked if I were to buy two iPhones today and came back on Friday, would they be able to re-ring me up at a discounted price if it turned out the iPhone were to go on sale. The guy went and got his manager who told me that all of AT&T's sales for Black Friday are already going, they just haven't advertised them yet. He went on to say that Apple has no say over the price of the iPhone, it is up to AT&T. I then said something to the effect "Well, if by some act of [a higher power] (<- politically correct) it does indeed go on sale, would you be able to do it?" And he replied "It is not going to be on sale."

But would it be feasible that Apple reduces the price, lets just say by $100, and leaves it up to AT&T what they want to do with it. And then the rumor about Apple sending out the 'price matching' notice to all of its employees might show that whatever AT&T decides, lets say $50 off, Apple will obviously follow. What do you think?

the iPhone doesn't sell at discounted prices. $199 for 8GB, $299 for 16GB, and that's that.

"It is not going on sale."

That doesn't say anything about the iPhone being on sale.
Could be some cases that are on sale, but I highly doubt the iPod and iPhone are going to be one sale. Unless it's like $10 off... yay!

They'll have a few eye-poppers on accessories or maybe the iMacs or Mac Pros. But don't count on any iPhone sales. You may see some at stores that offer a free gift card with purchase, but that's the best you'll see.

kinda have to have no brain to think it would go on sale, especially for MINUS another 100$. lolol.

I assume for the online sale that starts Friday, Friday means midnight Cupertino time, right?

I'll clarify this time...

There are two versions of iPhone, and Apple did sell refurb phone at discounted price.

Consider the number sold between first gen and 3G phone, it is highly probable that Apple has a large stock of refurb 3G phone. Although pricing structure is entirely different, but I won't be surprise if discounted refurbished iPhones will be used to drive traffic.

Black Friday 2010

Two years ago, I finally dipped my toes in the iPhone waters and got a refurb unit on Black Friday from AT&T's website. They marked $100 off the 32GB iPhone 4 (not 4S), and that's the phone I still carry around today.

So if they do the same thing with the iPhone 5 this time around, I'm all over it.

wishful thinking but the 5 has less in stock than the 4 did 2 years ago.
