Black Friday Spotlight: Target's Preview Sale Includes iPhone 11 Offers Ahead of Big Discounts Coming November 29

In an ongoing effort to keep track of upcoming (and current) Black Friday sales, we've begun highlighting the biggest and best discounts offered by major retailers. Yesterday we started with Best Buy, and today we're moving on to Target.

Target's Black Friday sale is set to be massive and will extend across home furniture, clothing, video games, and of course electronics. Target will open its doors at 5 p.m. local time on Thanksgiving evening, close them at 1 a.m. Friday morning, and then re-open at 7 a.m. Friday morning.

Like most other stores, Target has also put some deals online ahead of time in what it's calling the "Black Friday Preview Sale," which lasts today and ends tomorrow night. Preview Sale items include everything from iPhone 11 models to weighted blankets, so be sure to head to Target for the full list. In this article, everything is considered an upcoming sale that isn't yet live unless otherwise noted to be part of the available Preview Sale.

It should also be noted that Target RedCard holders and members of its Circle loyalty program will gain early access to Black Friday deals beginning the day before Thanksgiving, November 27.

Apple

Target will offer a free $200 Target gift card with qualified activation of an iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, or iPhone 11 Pro Max on Verizon or AT&T [Preview Sale Now]. The same offer will be available for the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

You'll also be able to get the new 32GB 10.2-inch iPad for $249.99, down from $329.99, representing the lowest-ever price on this model.

Next up, the retailer will offer the Apple Watch Series 3 starting at $169.99 and totaling $30 savings across multiple styles. The newest Apple Watch, Series 5, will remain priced at its regular point starting at $399.99 for GPS and $499.99 for cellular.

There will be a chance for some App Store and iTunes gift card savings. Target plans to offer buy one, get one 30 percent off on these gift cards, where the lower-priced gift card will be 30 percent off. There is no specification yet on which tiers will be on sale, but you can likely expect the usual $25, $50, and $100 tiers. Under this sale, purchasing two $50 iTunes gift cards will cost you a total of $85 for $100 iTunes credit, which is the typical 15 percent off sale we usually see.

Lastly, Target plans to offer the AirPods with Charging Case for $144.99, down from $159.99, and AirPods with Wireless Charging Case for $169.99, down from $199.99 [Preview Sale Now]. These aren't the lowest prices we've ever seen for either model, and in fact you can get them both for slight cheaper right now on Amazon. Target lists the AirPods Pro, but there won't be a sale on the latest model and it will still cost $249.99.

For gamers and movie fans, this includes brand-new titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, The Outer Worlds, Toy Story 4, and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

If you were planning to buy a Nintendo Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe this year, you can get a bundle of both for $299.99, netting you the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe copy for free. This is the same offer shared across all of the major retailers this year, including Best Buy (which throws in a screen protector) and Amazon. I'll never understand why these cell phone "sales" are given so much coverage every year. If it requires activation of a new line - as they always do - then what's the point? Who the F doesn't already have a cell phone and plan with a carrier (other than young children)? Do people actually cancel with one carrier only to reactivate with a new carrier to take advantage of this stuff? And have to change their number along the way?

I mean, look at this...450 million cell subs in the US for about 330 million people!:

FYI, Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch+MK8 bundle is the old Switches. If you want one of the new ones with double the battery life you will have to pay full price.

I play 90% docked, so this would have been a good deal, but of you are more likely to play undocked the Switch Lite is probably a better deal. If you are 50-50 than just get the new full sized Switch.

You don't need to change cell numbers. The law was implemented years ago that required number portability among the carriers.

I worked for Target mobile for 6 years and you do not have to have a new line. You can upgrade pay off the old phone and get a new one. I would do 60 phone upgrades on thanksgiving evening alone. I did one family of 4 and they walked out with $1200 of target gift cards. A lot of people forget about target and they would have phones when others were sold out.

But it’s a heck of a deal to get an iPhone 11 for *essentially* $499 ($699 with a $200 gift card)

I upgraded today without a wait. And unlike a previous post mentioned... this is NOT needing a new line. Simply upgraded an existing line. I can’t see a better deal out there.

Nope! This is a Target Promotion, not a Verizon promotion.

I just checked (pretending to be a Verizon customer) and the terms were exactly like ATT. Neither need to be a new line or unlimited or anything like that.

I went to Target on Saturday and they were really busy. Sam's club had a similar deal and people were lined up since 4am to get the $400 sams club card you got with activation. At Target, some stores still had some iPhone 11s in stock but most stores didn't have anything above 128 and due to this promotions stocks were very low all over my state. The $200 GC was appealing as we do a lot of shopping at Target. They do require that you activate the new phone before you leave the store and engage in a payment plan and you're auto enrolled in square trade plan which you can cancel immediately. Because of the payment plan, most carrriers will then charge you a $40 upgrade fee. If you buy the phone from Apple outright and swap sims, you can usually get away without it. Even after the upgrade fee, it's still $160 less (assuming you use the GC) than anywhere else.
