I have a 2009 MacBook (white)
The unit before the white unibody

Will a keyboard from earlier generation black MacBook work (keyboard, touchpad, top bezel).

I have recently found out that this machine can run 10.10 after all, and will be replacing the optical with a 2nd hd.
The built in had is a SSD.

Since the top cover keyboard has to be removed for this swap, I'd do the keyboard swap too (if I can find one in excellent shape).

I prefer the black color.

It will fit. Some of the oldest versions have another cable. Early 2006 uses orange and later use silver.
It is possible that the silver is the only one that will connect properly, but i'm not sure.
