I've got a bit of a problem. Across the top and bottom of my MacBook screen are black lines about 2 centimetres each. (See attatched image)

So it's basically squeezed the screen vertically.

I think I may have lent on my keyboard and that may have caused this to happen.

How can I get it back to normal?

You checked Displays first in System Preferences right, just to ensure it's not something simple? Otherwise, I have never seen this occur. You might want to take it to the geniuses.
 
You're right mate, the display had been reduced to 1280x728 I think. Bit of a Mac noob should have gone there before I even started this thread!
