It drives me crazy. I want to take it to an Apple Store but doubt they will help me since my AppleCare ran out.
 
Mine has been doing this for a few years too. It's getting to be bothersome. I'm thinking about ripping it apart to fix it. I don't think WD-40 is a smart thing to put on electronics or on things that get very hot.

well the hinges wont get hot enough to burn it up. i use wd40 on my dirtbike and all it does is burn off the pipe.

im sure if u squirted a tiny amount in the hinge it would be fine...just use a paper towel and make sure it doesnt get anywhere else.
