I just bought the black macbook 2gb ram model from MacMall since I didn't like the new MBs. Anyways, I'm wondering if I can play newer games on it smoothly? I'm interested in Command & Conquer 3 and some other RTS games. I'm coming from a 1.42ghz iBook so I'm jumping quite a bit spec-wise. thanks

You might be able to pull it off in Windows at Low or Very Low settings. You'd be better off just building/buying a cheap PC to play games.

I wouldn't recommend it, I'm assuming it has the Intel X3100 chip? It can run Half Life 2 and CS: Source at about 30FPS with everything low but no it won't run any new games (or even old) "smoothly" unfortunately.

The new Macbook with the Geforce 9400M is _much_ better in terms of gaming.

so even if I upgrade to 4gb of RAM it wont help?

thats pretty depressing considering the specs for C&C 3 are well below my new computer lol

you might not have liket the new macbooks, but the nvidia intergrated would have played them games easy, but not the x3100,if the nvidia is 5 times faster than intels newest x4500 and the x4500 is 3 or 5 times faster than x3100..lol
