My 3 year old ibook crapped out last night and I need to replace it. I saw this coming so I definitely backed it up a couple weeks ago.

My question is should I go with a black refurbished macbook for $1,099 or the new 2.1ghz white macbook. The specs for the refurb are below. I will be uping either to 4gb of RAM. I mainly use it for email, music and web. Thanks for the help.

Model Refurbished MacBook - Black
Processor 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
L2 Cache 4MB shared
System bus 800MHz
Memory 1GB (two 512MB) of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300); supports up to 4GB
Hard drive 160GB Serial ATA; 5400-rpm
Slot-loading optical drive 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Graphics Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor with 144MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory

Definitely the refurb, waaay quicker, bigger HDD, SuperDrive - definitely the better machine.

i personally like the black color over the white. plus, the refurb black model is actually $1049 and not $1099, so it's even cheaper than a new base model.

Definitely the Black MacBook. It's faster, more space, Superdrive, Black, and just better!

Thanks for the help, I went to go and purchase the blackbook online and they were gone. How often are they in the refurbished store?

Ah yeah you should have got in quicker, there were loads after the penryns were released. Should be another one along soon.

Jump when they appear,I did:rolleyes:

What about the 2.2GHZ Blackbook for $999?

Model Refurbished MacBook - Black
Processor 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
L2 Cache 4MB shared
System bus 667MHz
Memory 1GB (two 512MB) of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300); supports up to 2GB

Slot-loading optical drive 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Graphics Intel GMA 950 graphics processor with 64MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory
Video Built-in iSight camera; mini-DVI output port with support for DVI, VGA, S-video, and composite video (requires adapters, sold separately)

What do you think? Should I jump?

I really prefer the black over the white.. The white is available in 2.2 GHZ with a 120 GB HD (vs 160GB on the black for the same price), but I'll probably replace the either of the HD's anyway with a 7200RPM..

I will be editing video on this occasionally using iMovie and might try to learn FCE with it.. Though iMovie suits my needs just fine.. Other than that it's just for word processing, surfing the net, and things like that..

Should I jump?
