Black MKB vs. White MKB

Which one of these do you like better? I was intent on getting the white, but I am really considering the black with the dBrand swarm skin on it. I’ve had black before and loved it, and I’m worried the white might distract me if I’m trying to watch content. But I usually sit in the dark, so maybe that won’t be an issue?

I went with the Silver 2021 12.9” iPad Pro because I thought it’d go good with the White MKB, but it’d probably look just as sleek with the black.

What would you go with if you were in my shoes?

Ive ordered space grey 12.9, originally had a 2018 12.9 with black magic keyboard case, really want the white so it feels different from my old one and seeing a video of the white with the illuminated keys makes it look futuristic, although do still like the black and I've cancelled the white more times than I can remember, errrrrrmmmm dunno if I can't decide I can't decide for you! 😂

I have always gone for the Space Grey iPads hence a black MKB for me (my first); upgrading from last year's 12.9 IPP to same model. I must admit the silver color/white MKB combo looks fresh & nice.

I already have the 5th gen black keyboard on hand but why am I so attracted to the white keyboard! The more videos I see of it with the silver iPad, the more tempting it gets to also buy the white one.

Lol; I'm going into the Apple store today; tempted to just buy white and black and see what I prefer!
Don't mind the black as it would be getting skinned anyway but the white keys look lovely

I really like this combo and will probably do the same , I’ve already ordered the 12.9 in space grey and now seeing this will probably get the white MKB

I just got my 12.9" iPad Pro yesterday.

I am keen on the White MKB but not sure how dirty it will get and how easy is it to clean it.

Once more users reactions come in, then I will take the plunge

I bought the white one but now I’m thinking “what were you thinking” ? I may just return it. I had a good set up with my 2018 that worked well for me-case by Pad & Quill coupled with the regular white Apple keyboard. Lighter weight also which I appreciate. I’ll give it a few more days but I don’t think white was a good choice fit me. Besides, I don’t type too much.

When I received the iPad Pro and white magic keyboard earlier I hesitated opening it thinking I’d be sending it back, after a day of using it no way would I exchange it for black now.

The white looks clean, but the black with the silver iPad looks better in my opinion.

It’s the new colour though, so the popularity is understandable.

I loooveee my white and silver combo. The case stays clean so far and doesn’t get nearly as dirty as the black one. Just keep away from Cheetos and it’ll be fine. I also feel like this case is a bit sturdier and smoother than the previous one, but I had the 11-inch case, so it may just be the size difference.

I went with a white magic keyboard around a 11 inch space gray IPP. I dig the contrast.

Can someone with the smaller-sized white Magic Keyboard on either their Pro or Air give me the hardware version number? Mine’s reading “0009” with my Black model, which upon searching on MacRumors appears to be the 2020/potentially-last-generation one. The keyboard was purchased at the Apple Store here in Seattle the day after the 2021 models dropped along with the 11” iPad Pro.

I suppose the firmware version may be useful too, since a different hardware version could maybe (?) correspond to the new color option, and a difference in firmware might help indicate whether there is some kind of discretion deeper than just the cosmetic.

If such a difference were to seem to exist, hypothetically, I’d probably go have my keyboard swapped in spite of quite preferring this darker color option—it hearkens back nicely to the well-used gray Type Cover 2 on the Surface Pro 2 from which I just switched (plus I’m rather obsessive and the idea of white strikes into me some degree of panic). But even still the cosmetic difference is negligible when there are more important, functional potential design improvements to consider.

Edit/update: Just switched Black keyboard out for White (and 256GB Space Grey for 512 Silver) and here’s what the info panel says. Hardware reads the same, but is that a later firmware version? If so that would be interesting given I’d had the Black for a couple of days and it hadn’t yet updated to that, if it’s capable of doing so (hopefully!).
