Recently I have gotten these black rectangles at the top of my screen, after this happening, I restarted the computer. Now that are starting to show up again. Any idea of what it is?

I haven't seen any like that but when similar graphics anomalies started coming up on my dad's MBP, less than a day later it was dead (logic board).... Backup now!

Backing up now. I restarted and it's not happening anymore after a restart. Would resetting PRAM or anything like that help?

PRAM never really hurts to try, so go for it.

If those rectangles were captured with Grab, then I dont have an answer for you..

usually if artifacts pop up like that it's a hardware problem (i.e. GPU mentioned above, which is embedded in the logic board). This usually only manifests itself on what you see on the screen in person and wouldnt be captured in software like Grab.
