Hi I have got a problem with booting of my Powermac G4 QS.

Basically screen is black and keyboard, mouse in USB 1.1 ports are dead(no light or anything) until it automatically boots somewhere.(System, DVD, boot device error or Open Firmware)

Is there a script to boot into Open Firmware after each boot?(cannot set it there)

So you're saying that you can't get to OF with the Cmd+Opt+O+F key combo.

Can you get to the boot picker by holding down Option? If so, you can press Ctrl+Z on the boot picker to be dropped into OF.

Else, if you can get either the blinking question mark screen or the network boot screen, these are also OF screens and pressing Ctrl+Z will also drop you to OF.

When you get there, you can put setenv auto-boot? false into the OF prompt to disable autobooting, which will accomplish your goal and drop you into OF every time.

I'm not aware of a similar terminal command, since this isn't an nvram command (which does have a similar terminal command).

I know... but keyboard and screen are irresponsive for first 15 seconds or so. I have to rely on graphical system interface(Startup Manager in OS X for switching Tiger and Leopard)

keyboard, mouse and screen are dead until apple logo, boot failure or when it boots automatically to OF.

I need to resolve those dead peripherals first.

Your best bet then would be to set the Startup Disk to Network Boot and drop to OF using Ctrl+Z, since Netboot will try to find a server for far longer than 15 seconds.

It works! thank you so much!

Is there a solution for irresposiveness of peripheral devices? They started responding just after netboot appeared, weird.
