Black screen before I make a call

Is it normal for your screen to go black for a second or two before a call? This didn't happen to my 3gs, although I also hadnt updated to the newest software. Right before I make a call, the screen will go black, and then after about 2 seconds or so the call screen comes on. Just wondering what thats about! BTW, this is on an iphone 4!

If you've been following the news on i4, along with the attenna some i4 owners have reported issues with the proximity sensor. Apple to my knowledge has yet to address/ comment on this?

Yea they should be releasing some more news on the proximity issue later this week or so!

Apple said they will be addressing the issue in the next software update
