My Mac keeps crashing. On occassions when I open an e-mail in Entourage I get the Black screen and have to reboot.

Here's the Console error message I found... Any ideas what the problem is?

I've never seen a kernel panic say anything other than "You must restart your computer now."
Me too. But sometimes when an application isn't responding... they say some crazy things. Crazy things.

But kernel panics do leave log files. I think.

The screen went black and I couldn't do a thing

Other than reboot.

I have seen plenty of Kernel Panics caused by Memory Errors where the kernel panic screen comes up and then is overwritten by miscellaneous text as hexadecimal values along with a few descriptions.

Is that what you are seeing?

were u be able to determine if this is caused by software or hardware?
can u still call applecare?

No warning...

The screen simply went blank and I could do nothing.

It seems like software is the problem. It's happened under similar circumstances before... trying to open an HTML e-mail.

I have had problems with the HP printer though but that doesn't crash the computer. Although the printer will print from Word and other wordprocessing packages, the it won't recognise the scanner. You need to do a complete manual uninstall to get it working.

But I think that's a seperate problem to the complete crash.

Applecare? What's that? Certainly didn't get any mention of such a service in Hong Kong.
