Black screen playing movies

Hi!

Decided to watch a movie the other day using VLC. Did everything as usual until pressing the fullscreen button, the movie continued playing but the screen turned black. Same thing happened with every single youtube video I tried to watch. Any ides what's causing it? I suppose it's not the deat of a videocard because I can still watch fullscreen movies through azureus.
