Sometimes after ending calls in my iphone 4 I find that its screen become completely black and even when i press on Home button this black screen does not disappear unless I do restart to iphone..so any one here can tell me what is the causr of this problem and how can I fix it ?

And u should know that my iphone has ios 4.2.1 and thanks for any help

Try a hard reset (hold the POWERr and HOME button until the silver Apple logo appears). If the problem persists, "Restore As New".

I already did restore to my iphone many times but this did not prevent this problem from occuring again in sometimes after ending phone call

Contact apple and make an appointment at a genius bar. If you've done the restore as new and the problem persists. You can rule out software issues. Most likely a hardware issue.

Sounds to me like a hardware issue. In particular the proximity sensor. There have been a lot of troubles with the proximity sensor on the iPhone 4, often resulting in the screen actually NOT going black. (If you Google it you will find many topics about it.) But it can also result in the phone not returning to a normal screen after.

If it was a 3G or 3GS, or if you didn't have warranty any more, I'd suggest going to a good iPhone Screen Repair business in your area. Where abouts are you located? There's lots of these shops all over the place. Again if it was a 3G or 3GS and out of warranty that would have been your best bet.

But on the iPhone 4 it takes a long time to get to the actual screen, have you ever seen what it looks like? Bolted right onto the front of the frame and the whole motherboard and everything stops it from being easily swapped. Same for the proximity sensor.

So as someone said take it to Apple, they will almost certainly swap it over for a new one. Unless they can do some software magic on it, which I doubt. So make sure you back up all your data first. Good luck.

Thank u alot and i hope that i can replace it with new one without any problems from Store
