Black Screen Problem?

Hello, it seems as though my Macbook Pro turns on and everything I can hear the sound of it when it starts and I can lower and put my volume higher too. There's something wrong because my screen is just black and I cannot see anything and I can hear the computer running. What should I do? It doesn't make sense, and also when I turn my computer on I can see the blinking light at the bottom, it seems to be in sleep mode. What do I do? I've tried opening the lid, closing it. Took off the battery and put it back. Rebooted many times. Disconnected all the USB things. I still get the black screen.
