Bought a broken phone off a friend. The phone doesnt do anything when its plugged in(stays black screen) but the computer makes a sound showing a new device is connected. went to itunes and itune say it cant connect because it has a locked passcode. But i cannot enter the code because the screen is black!!!

PLEASE HELP

after about 5 minutes i hear it is disconnected again from the computer....

Aggie is not usually wrong but this time he is........it is your lcd not your screen!

So that means i only have to replace the lcd not the glass and digitizer right??
but i thought the lcd, glass, and digiterzer is glued together???

Thanks

replace the lcd only then you can see where to put your passcode in. DEE9299 and myself do this for a living. this is not a guess its a cure!

And OP, you really should let someone who does this "for a living" repair your iPhone, IMO. Otherwise you risk damaging even more stuff. Besides, it could be more things messed up for all you know.

You have two possibilities in this problem. One is your iPhone screen connection wire is broken and the other is your phone touch screen is broken or not working. Actually these touch screen are delicate in nature and if its failed then we have to change it. No other option.

Okay I understand your new here. But your right in the call that his #1 connnector maybe loose. Easy way to find out is to press firmly down in the right hand corner. Now the digitizer(you called touch screen) has NO effect on the LCD not displaying a image. OP press firmly on the right hand corner to see if your connection is loose if not you need a new LCD. Please dont give out information that is not correct. I have seen a lot of phones in which the digitizer is fine but the LCD has stopped working.

do not listen to this guy........the only thing he said that was correct is these parts are delicate!!! your ability to see your apps on your iPhone has nothing to do with the touch screen. replace your lcd and you will be good to go!
