Blackbooks Ethernet Port suddenly stopped working??

Hey

So the other day i unplugged my Macbooks ethernet cable to move it into another room, no wifi in the college dorm, and all of a sudden the port stopped recognizing that it was plugged in. any ethernet cable that i plug it refuses to be recognized. Anyone got any ideas? and if its a hardware issue how much would it be to get this fixed?
