Blank edge icon in top left

I was using 1.1.1.
If you were on the main Springboard then in the top left corner next to the carrier name was the Edge icon (a white rectangle with an 'E' in the middle - this changed to blue when within an application).
Since upgrading to 1.1.2 this icon is now just a solid white rectangle with no 'E' and a solid blue rectangle when an application is open.


Does anyone know why this might be?

From what I understand, a plain blue square indicates that you are connecting through GPRS rather than EDGE.

I have had this happen once but I just put it in sleep and woke it back up and it was back to the regular EDGE icon.
