blank grey login screen when waking from sleep (no user accounts shown)

anyone else experience this?

when you click on the blank grey screen you get a small box which shows what actually should be displyed, if you scroll around with the cursor it creates more boxes until you can actually see user acounts to log back in.

i've been searching around for the past few months, sorry if this was already addressed, i didnt see it

2010 15in macbook pro with lion 10.7.3

Recently had a very similar problem. I had the same screen issue along with multiple other problems that led me to take it to the apple store. Turned out to be a bad hard drive. Replaced under warranty. I'd recommend getting it checked out.

fyi - it's a seagate momentus xt 500 upgraded to the most recent firmware sd 28
